GettingMad privacy policy
In short. GettingMad has no accounts, ads, analytics or purchases. Almost everything the app stores stays on your phone. If you play online, we send only what the game needs to work (an animal and a color, not your name) and delete it when the room ends or stops being used.
1. What stays on your phone
- Profiles and game statistics, settings (language, theme, sound), the saved game and the server address.
- The family PIN: the PIN itself is not stored, only a derived fingerprint that cannot be turned back into it.
- The credential to go back to an online room, stored encrypted with the system key store.
None of this is sent to our servers, and it is excluded from Android backups and from transfer to a new phone. It is deleted with “Delete local data” in the family area or by uninstalling the app.
2. Playing over the Internet (private rooms)
It only works if an adult turns it on in the family area. To play, the app sends our server:
- the animal (alias) and color you chose, taken from a closed catalog;
- the room code, the moves of the game and the table settings.
We do not send your name, your profiles, contacts, location or device identifiers. There is no chat.
As with any Internet connection, your IP address reaches the servers the connection goes through:
| Who | What for | What it does with it |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Receives the connection and protects it against attacks | It is our provider; its logs follow its policy. |
| Our server (Vultr, Mexico City) | Runs the rooms | It receives it through Cloudflare and uses it in memory to limit abuse (for example, too many connections). We do not write it to logs or to disk. |
How long. A room’s state (animals, colors, the game, and a verifier of your reconnection credential, not the credential itself) is kept on the server while the room is in use and deleted when the room ends or after 15 minutes without activity. The server’s technical logs contain no IP addresses, room codes, credentials or names.
A monitoring service (UptimeRobot) checks every few minutes that the server responds. It receives no player data.
3. Playing nearby
Version 1.0 has no local mode: it requests no Bluetooth, location or nearby-devices permissions, and GettingMad does not use your location. If a mode for phones around you returns later, this policy will be updated before it ships.
4. Sharing a result
You generate the result image and choose where to send it. By default it shows animals only; the winner’s name appears only if an adult authorizes it with the PIN for that share.
5. Children
GettingMad is meant to be played as a family, from age 6 with an adult’s help. Network play and data deletion are protected by the family PIN, which is a local control: it does not verify anyone’s age or replace the consent of a responsible adult. There are no ads, purchases, chat or accounts, and we do not ask any player for real names or contact details.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
- We do not use analytics or advertising profiles.
- We do not create accounts or identify the people who play.
7. Your data and how to delete it
On your phone: “Delete local data” in the family area, or uninstall the app. On the server: since there are no accounts, we cannot look data up by person; whatever is in a room deletes itself (section 2), and leaving the room speeds that up. If you have questions or want us to check something, write to privacidad@gettingmad.app.
8. Security
The Internet connection is encrypted (wss://), the server does not trust what the app sends and validates every move, and credentials are not stored in the clear on the server or on the phone.
9. Changes
If something changes, we will publish the new version here with its date.
